Freshman Residency
All first-time freshmen are required to live on campus in the residence halls. Exceptions can be made for students who are:
Married and/or have children
21 years of age or older
A veteran of the United States Armed Forces
Admitted as a transfer student with sophomore status
Approved to reside in a local fraternity or sorority house
A local resident who will commute from his or her parentŐs permanent address in Stillwater, OK, or the surrounding communities (30 mile radius)
Freshmen students not meeting the above requirements that do not reside on campus will be assigned a room and all fees associated will be billed to the students' bursar account.
Requests not meeting these criteria will be reviewed by the Director of Housing and Residential Life. Oklahoma State University is committed to student success and freshmen who live on campus are more likely to succeed. Therefore, it is extremely rare that any other exceptions are approved.
