University Dining Dollars (UD$) Plans

The dining options serve meals or provide grab-n-go throughout each day, Monday through Sunday, when classes are in session. Residential Life students may contract to eat using several different options.

All plans are continuous, allowing plan holders to eat in most campus dining facilities as often as they want during operating hours. Remember, freshmen are required to select from Plans A, B, C, D, or E until they have lived on campus for two semesters or have earned 27 credit hours. Plans are purchased by the academic year, and are automatically renewed from the fall to spring semesters. Plan holders can carryover a maximum amount of their unused balance from semester to semester as long as a dining contract is in place. The carryover is how much of the previous meal plan balance can be carried over and added to the total of the new meal plan. It is not a reduction in price of the new meal plan.

Your meal plan entitles you to eat in any dining center on campus (except the Daily Grind in the Student Union) during the periods when board plans are in effect. This includes all of the Residential Life dining options, the Student Union Food Court, Java Dave's at the Library, The Rancher's Club, Taylor's Dining, and the West Side Café. Dining options are closed and/or offer limited service on the following University holidays: Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break; Winter/Semester Break; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Spring Break; May Break; Memorial Day; July 4 Holiday; and August Break. All dining options available and their hours of operation are subject to change. Please check the Residential Life website at www.reslife.okstate.edu for the latest options and hours. No Meal Plan Option With the exception of freshmen, all students can switch to the no meal plan option by purchasing the remainder of their board contract.

Meal Plan Change

If you wish to change your meal plan you should request a meal plan transfer at the Residential Life Office in Iba Hall. If you decide to change your meal plan during the semester, please be aware that all of the all-you-care-to-eat charges are retroactive.

If you decide to move up to a new meal plan, all of your all-you-care-to-eat charges will be decreased in price retroactive to the beginning of the semester. If you decide to move down to a new meal plan, all of your all-you-care-to-eat charges will be increased in price retroactive to the beginning of the semester.

Also, please be aware that you will be charged a $25 processing fee each time you move down to a new meal plan. However, if you move up to a new meal plan, this processing fee will be waived.

If you see that you are going to run out of meals by the end of the semester, you can add $50 increments to your account with no processing fee. Just come to the Residential Life office to make that adjustment.

University Dining Services Personnel

The Dining Services Manager and Assistant Manager are the professional personnel who operate the dining units. Their primary concern is to provide a high quality, comprehensive dining program in an economical and pleasing manner. They also strive to create an environment for interaction. The Managers are responsible for the proper preparation and service of nutritious meals and the supervision of employees working in the dining units. In addition, they serve as resource people to answer your questions, listen to feedback about the dining programs, and try to give you any help you might need.

Guests

You can bring a guest to the dining halls on your meal plan. Cash prices are also available for guests or for meals outside your meal plan. Students living off campus may also purchase meal plans.

Special Dietary Needs

If you need a special diet for medical reasons, please see a doctor at the Student Health Center for a consultation. The dining centers have staff who can assist you with special diets. Please ask at any dining center for assistance. Most special diets, with consultations, can be handled by the student with the variety found in the menus. Students whose religious or lifestyle practices prohibit or restrict the consumption of certain foods are able to satisfy their nutritional needs by a number of choices offered. Special requests should be directed to the Dining Services Manager.

Sick Tray Meals

Meals may be taken from the cafeteria for students confined to their rooms due to illness or injury. A friend may obtain a "request for sick tray" slip from the cashier. Present the slip and the ill or injured person's ID to the dining staff.

All-You-Care-to-Eat

Residents are encouraged to "take all you want, but eat all you take."

4-Food Line

To find out what is being served in any of the four dining units, just call 4-food (744-3663). Menus for breakfast, lunch, and dinner are updated daily.

University ID

Your OSU photo ID is a valuable card and should be treated like cash. The ID must be presented at each location for entry into the dining center. IDs are not transferable and may be used for dining service by the authorized card owner and their guest(s). The card holder must be present! Abuse of this system can result in disciplinary action. You must present your ID to any OSU staff member upon request.

ID Loss

Report a lost or stolen card immediately by calling the Department of Computing and Information Services (CIS) Help Desk at 744-HELP (4357). You can obtain your OSU ID at ID Services located at 432 Student Union, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday.

If your first card, or subsequent cards, is lost, stolen, or mutilated you will be charged $17.00 for the replacement cost of a new card. This charge is automatically billed to your Bursar account. If you are unable to do obtain a new card before your next meal you may go to the cashier and ask for assistance. Remember, you are financially responsible for all meal plan money used before you report the lost ID.

Lending Your ID

Meal tickets are non-transferable. However, you may bring a guest(s). If ID misuse is discovered, the ID will be retained by the dining staff and disciplinary steps will follow.

Removal of Items

You may leave the all-you-care-to-eat dining centers with a cookie, ice cream cone, piece of fruit, or a drink in a Residential Life refill mug. All other food must be eaten in the dining center. Glasses, silverware, dishes, trays, and all other reusable utensils are not to be taken from the facilities.

Table Tents

If you wish to place table tents in the dining facilities, please see the appropriate Dining Manager for further details.
