The Department of Residential Life prefers to hire graduate assistants who are pursuing a Master's degree in College Student Development or a doctoral degree in a related field. Therefore this information is highlighted throughout our recruitment materials. However, we do occasionally hire GAs from other academic programs.
The M.S. in College Student Development degree program prepares students for entry-level student personnel services positions in college and university settings. This is an interdisciplinary program that includes preparation in human development, social foundations, counseling, administration, and research.
Numerous doctoral programs are also available for candidates already possessing a Master's degree. For more information about existing doctoral programs, please visit the OSU Graduate College website or the College of Education website
