Residence Director (Graduate Assistantship)
10 month, 3/4 time, live-in appointment with options for 12 months.
Responsibilities: Have the opportunity to supervise 4 to 12 student staff members; advise area government; develop student leadership positions within the facility; guide the discipline process; responsible for area facilities, participate in departmental committees; be active in staff training and selection; perform administrative tasks necessary for operation of the area; crisis management; involvement in room assignment; maintain office hours outside meeting times; participate in area duty rotation including when classes are not in session' team teach a section of the student staff class; select a collateral assignment in the following areas: Student Staff Selection, Student Staff Training, J-Board Advisor, Faculty Associate Program, Graduate Assistant Recruitment, NRHH Advisor, Hall Leader Development, "This is the Life" Incoming Freshmen Experience Coordinator
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required, Residential Life experience preferred. Acceptance into graduate program is also required.
Remuneration:
- Stipend: $8,500.00 ($850/month for 10 months)
- Room: $6,000.00
- Board: $3,100.00
- Tuition: $12,538.30, based on spring 2009 estimates
- Professional Development*: $250.00
- Talking Stick**: $25.00
- Total Package: $30,413.30
*Every graduate assistant is guaranteed $250 in professional development funds. However, additional funding is often available.
**Every graduate assistant is given a subscription to the Talking Stick to further increase professional development. The Talking Stick is a publication of the Association of College and University Housing Officers-International (ACUHO-I). Additionally, GA's have access to the Chronicle of Higher Education at various locations throughout the department.
Residence Director of Marketing and Fundraising (Graduate Assistantship)
12 month, 3/4 time, live-in appointment.
Responsibilities: Have the opportunity to supervise up to 12 student Ambassadors; develop marketing materials for prospective students, current residents, and dining; facilitate recruitment activities such as Priority Sign Up, Transfer Days, and New Student Orientation; communicate and coordinate with alumni, prepare press releases, and write articles; Assist in the development of a structured fundraising campaign including research, grant writing, marketing materials, and campaign development; participate in departmental committees; be active in staff training and selection; crisis management; select a collateral assignment in the following areas: Student Staff Selection, Student Staff Training, J-Board Advisor, Faculty Associate Program, Graduate Assistant Recruitment, NRHH Advisor, Hall Leader Development, "This is the Life" Incoming Freshmen Experience Coordinator
Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required. Residential Life and Marketing (or graphic design) experience preferred. Acceptance into graduate program is also required.
